Little time, big results

Sometimes even well intentioned meal-planning doesn’t yield the results we want, this is when having a back catalogue of simple, quick recipes you know from memory ensures quality, filling cooking.

One of my favourites is quorn meatball spag-bol.

Key ingredients:

Passata/ chopped tomatoes 

Tomato purée

Onion

Garlic 

Frozen veg**

Quorn mince /meatballs 

Brown pasta 

Cheese is optional 


** frozen veg is a lifesaver when it comes to the end of the week and you’ve run out of fresh stuff and the shops are shut! It’s also great when you’re in a rush.
Mmmm delicious filling dinner, syn free and all 😉

(Cards and a bit of mindfulness is a great after dinner treat)


Motivation Boards Reward

Even with the best intentions you’re bound to reach a sticking point along your journey. Some people call this the plateau, or coasting, to others it’s a rut. Either way, there comes a point where the effort you were originally putting in doesn’t make the same difference as before. This is the point where you need to increase your effort to see results.

This IS extremely hard. You’ve spent all this time creating a new routine with a new focus  and now you need to reset the focus and routine again to reach the same goals you were already aiming for! (*sigh*)

Do not fret! REMEMBER:

You’ve already developed so much, your body has changed shape, your metabolism has increased, you’re adapting to a healthier you. Your 100% effort has already paid off! Now it’s time to see what your new 100% effort looks like.

To continue on your journey to harmony you need to keep improving yourself, work that body harder, eat that extra salad instead of packet of crisps you used to be able to get away with! (Yes I know all the tricks!) You’ve got to remember, that in the long run your mind and body will love you for this. 

Don’t feel disheartened if you’re still demotivated. It took me 3 months of coasting along before I admitted I needed to change something.

That’s why I started this blog! That’s why I joined the gym! And that is why, I am now going to make a motivation board.

I’ve been pinning on Pinterest, bought some gorgeous stationary supplies and saved a big cardboard box to create my own personalised motivation board to shift these lbs.

You don’t just need to want to lose weight to make use of a motivation board. Whether it’s health, study, work, or other personal goals, a motivation board is a great visual representation of your steps along the journey. Forward and backwards. There’s no hiding, there’s no excuses. So get to it!

Dry and tinned staples to make delicious and filling dinners at short notice.

Meal planning to perfection

Unfortunately, being a food addict means religiously planning meals to avoid sneaky snacks and anxiety-ridden binges.

Planning every meal can suck the joy out of food, the same way cooking quells an appetite.

So once a week I plonk myself down to make a meal plan for a minimum of 5days in advance.

Starting from scratch is daunting even if you enjoy cooking, I’m lucky that there’s 2 of us on this journey to thindom, but unlucky to be the obsessive of the twosome.

The internet is your friend. 

If you’re on slimming world like I am, then the app and the site give you a million recipes that are easily adapted. If not slimming world then there are loads of healthy recipes all over the World Wide Web.

You don’t need a complicated system

a post it note and a pen is sufficient.


After your meal plan it’s important to make a shopping list and stick to it (it’s lbs you want to lose not £s).

But again, it can dull quite quickly if you don’t know what you want to eat in the week and want a varied week of meals.

To counter this, I’ve decided to trial a

weekly local veg box.

Not only do the company provide a wide variety of weird and wonderful fresh, local  veg, they put up recipes each week on their Pinterest to inspire your cooking.
